Tonight I got picked up from my cleaning, prepping of the floor I'm going to tackle stripping tomorrow and general housework, by my daughter and her lovely little family. We went out to Target, had a shop around and then decided to go eat.
We went to a place I'm very familiar with, a local Chinese buffet. You know the places I'm talking about. It is a persons worst nightmare if you are trying to watch your calorie and fat intake. These are the kind of places that I have said I was never going to, so when we went in, I knew I had to just make smart choices, watch the portions and NOT hate myself for the rest of the evening.
The first trip up of the three that I made, I got steamed veggies, white rice, two pieces (very small) of sesame chicken and mushrooms. It was a little plate, not overcrowded and it was great.
Plate number two had just two clumps of king crab legs on it. They were skimpy, salty and I am sorry/glad to say I wasted most of it.
The final plate was to hold a very skinny t-bone steak. It was lucky to weigh in at 5 ounces and cutting the fat and gristle off trimmed it down even more.
I didn't get dessert. I didn't have unlimited ice cream. I did eat an orange wedge off of Alexander's plate that he didn't want along with three little wedges of watermelon.
There was no regrets, no waddling out of the joint hating myself and doing the walk of shame to the car. It was a guilt-free feast and a treat that I won't have everyday.
Bliss!
