I almost forgot a very crucial moment in my life..I RODE MY BICYCLE from my old apartment to our new house! It was going to get ridden by Morton, but as he was talking about adjusting the I thought, "Why not just give it a try?" After all, it was only 1/2 mile and all level. How bad could I hurt my knee?
As I climbed on it, with Morton getting ready to get on his and follow me (just like he did for 3,000 miles up the east coast!) I was very nervous. What if I did a big bit of damage when there was still so much stuff to do at our new house?
Taking a deep breath I pushed off, just as I had done hundreds of time before and with my bad knee. After the first block I had a grin from ear to ear, no pain at all and it felt so AMAZING to be doing this again. I am going to start taking a little bicycle ride every single day and see how far I can build it up. This is what I need to be doing, as my weight is shedding, getting my strength back in my knee and keeping my muscles in use, rather then doing nothing.
Morton and I talked about his next day off going for a real ride. Since he works all the time, who knows when that will be, but if I take a wee ride daily, my knee should be ready for it.
I will keep you posted and GET BACK ON YOUR BIKES!!! Listen to your body and be good to yourself.
