I've just finished posting the link to your journal; I hope it helps you. I quite enjoyed reading your posts, and I hope others will, too.
I was looking for some great blogs and I found yours.
Your layout is great, posts are easy to read... All around, it's a great journal.
Consumers spend a lot of money each year on some wild items. This number is one just released by the Associated Press on a study that was done about the total cost that is spent in medical expenses due to diabetes. The scary part is that it keeps increasing.
Since I have so far been able to dodge the diabetes bullet, I'm not adding to this giant number. But with my mother having Type II diabetes and her mother having passed away from complications of diabetes, I know I have to keep moving and watch what I eat to avoid this.
Did you know that more people die each year from diabetes than from breast cancer and AIDS combined? Why aren't we in a state of panic about this? Is it because that society sees diabetes (Type II anyway) as something we bring on ourselves? Perhaps.
If you do the tiniest bit of research on the subject you will see that with proper DIET and EXERCISE has the most incredible effect on diabetes. There are many people who have came off their medicines and have been miraculously cured just by really taking control of their own health.
The tough part is that when you are addicted to food or have a food abuse problem, we have to look at the problem as a whole. It's easy to just tell someone to eat right and get exercise. But if you look around us, that doesn't work.
What do YOU think would solve this epidemic? Discuss your ideas here.
